The Build-A-Plane program by Flight Expo is an interactive program that allows students to build a full scale aircraft. It teaches students different mechanical skills such as welding, riveting, fabric covering, and similar aspects that are used in aircraft construction. Students in the Build-A-Plane program also have increased access to the Flight Expo Flying Club, where students may fly aircraft and take flight training lessons or study ground school in order to become a pilot.
Flight Expo, Inc. offers two session of our Build-A-Plane Program. A fall session from October to mid December and a spring session from February to the beginning of May.
Students meet Tuesdays (5:30 PM - 8:00PM) and every other Saturday (9:00 AM - Noon) to work on aircraft and learn new skills and techniques.
Students learn and develop skills such as: riveting, drilling, parts of an aircraft, welding, fabric covering, painting, and many other important skills.
Flight Expo, Inc's Build-A-Plane students have the opportunity to join Flight Expo's Flying Club (see info below).
Please contact us at 763-568-3360 for more information on the Build-A-Plane program or the flying club.
Flight Expo's Flying Club:
Students in the Build-A-Plane program have access to the Flight Expo Flying Club. In this club students who actively attend Build-A-Plane get free access to our Flying Club and a substantial discount on flying lessons and plane rental that they use to obtain their private pilot's license. Flight Expo, Inc. has already assisted several students in starting their flight training, receiving their private pilot's license, and furthering their interest and career in aviation. Students who actively participate in Build-A-Plane classes and fundraisers may receive help in obtaining scholarship funds to assist with the cost of flying lessons and plane rental.
