The Build-A-Plane program by Flight Expo is an interactive program that allows students to build a full scale aircraft. It teaches students different mechanical skills such as welding, riveting, fabric covering, and similar aspects that are used in aircraft construction. Students in the Build-A-Plane program also have access to the Flight Expo Flying Club, where students may fly aircraft and take flight training lessons or study ground school in order to become a pilot.
Flight Expo, Inc. offers three session of our Build-A-Plane Program. A fall session from October to mid-November, winter session from January - February and a spring session from April to the beginning of May.
Students meet Tuesdays (5:30 PM - 8:00PM) and every other Saturday (9:00 AM - Noon) to work on aircraft and learn new skills and techniques. The class size is limited to to 8-10 students per session.
Students learn and develop skills such as: riveting, drilling, parts of an aircraft, welding, fabric covering, painting, and many other important skills.
Flight Expo, Inc's Build-A-Plane students have the opportunity to join Flight Expo's Flying Club (see info below).
