John & Patty Sandberg Scholarship Opportunities from Flight Expo, Inc.
Each spring, Flight Expo proudly offers two $500 scholarships in honor of John and Patty Sandberg, whose lifelong passion for aviation and commitment to helping others continue to inspire everything we do.
John Sandberg dedicated his life to aviation, from building engines and restoring aircraft to pushing the limits of performance through projects like Tsunami. Patty stood alongside him, supporting both the vision and the people behind it. Together, they believed aviation is more than a career; it is a calling, a craft, and a community worth investing in.
In that spirit, these scholarships help the next generation take their first steps:
Private Pilot Scholarship
For students working toward their Private Pilot License (PPL)
A&P Scholarship
For students pursuing a career as an Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) mechanic
These scholarships are more than financial support. They are an investment in students who are ready to learn, show up, and put in the work, both in the air and in the shop.

Davin comes from a hardworking family of five and has been inspired by aviation from a young age. He attends Buffalo High School, where he's learned the value of discipline, perseverance, and goal setting—qualities that serve him well both in the classroom and in the cockpit.
Flying isn’t just a goal for Davin—it’s a true passion. He is seriously considering joining the military to serve his country while continuing to grow as a pilot.
We’re proud to support his next steps and can’t wait to see what his future holds.
