Flight Expo’s Build A Plane program is a hands-on, interactive experience where students have the unique opportunity to build a full-scale aircraft. Through this immersive process, students learn valuable mechanical skills such as welding, riveting, fabric covering, and other techniques essential to aircraft construction.
This program not only introduces students to aviation mechanics but also inspires the next generation of pilots, engineers, and technicians.
The program is offered in three seasonal sessions: Fall (October to mid-November), Winter (January through February), and Spring (April to early May). Students meet on Tuesday evenings from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM and every other Saturday from 9:00 AM to Noon.
To ensure a safe and hands-on learning environment, each session is limited to 6–8 students.
Build A Plane students don’t just learn how to build aircraft—they can also fly them!
Through the Flight Expo Flying Club, students can take flight lessons, log hours, or start ground school on their path to becoming a pilot.
